Pam and Angela from The Office have a podcast
Yes, Pam and Angela have a podcast together.
I’m not going to dwell on T.V. show relationships like 40 year old single cat lady. I’m here to talk about The Office Ladies, a podcast. But if I did I would totally listen to The Office Ladies on Spotify, hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsley who play Pam and Angela from The Office. It’s actually pretty good despite some criticism I’ll give here.
If we had a list for top ten hottest cat ladies, you know Angela Kinsley would be in it.
I was on the road back home from California and scrolled through some podcast option and saw ‘the Office Ladies.’ The beginning of the podcast filled your ears with ads. Tons and tons of ads. They even take numerous ‘breaks’ throughout the podcast for more ads. I don’t know why they need so many breaks. Is not making any money while speaking that difficult? “so, Steve Carell had an illegitimate son which turned out to actually be one of the actors! That reminds me of my new cooking website with tons of quirky new recipes!” It’s not quite that bad but you get the idea.
It’s fun to hear all the behind the scenes stories from The Office. I didn’t even know B.J. Novak (Ryan the intern) wrote some of the episodes and was a mathmatical wiz. The main cast (including Pam) had real computers to pretend to be working while the secondary cast (such as Angela) had computer screens with a paper desktop image taped onto it. Those are a couple of examples of tidbits you can pick up when listening.
Pam and Angela (yes it’s Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, I’m only capable of seeing them as their office characters as that is constantly in reference in their podcasts so get used to it) really seem to be making the most of their success from The Office. Why shouldn’t they? Pam hasn’t been in a movie in ages and Angela has been in a only a handful of smaller roles in shows. The office is hard to top and it’s likely the height of their career. I’m not going to fault them for it either, they did amazing in those roles. They just won’t top being known as cast members from The Office. So why not make the most of your greatest hits? Billy Joel still plays Piano man to this day. It’s all people ask for.
Any time they go off topic Angela pulls them back in whether Pam wants to continue with her tangent or not. Hey Angela, that’s how podcasts work, they are tangential in nature. It’s all about bringing the topic back smoothly or moving on. There shouldn’t be a fixed linear path.
Another facet I think they don’t embrace is the way you relate to the audience. I really dig their stories but feel like I’m being advertised to all the while. Their tones and overall vibe feel walled off. This is what makes Howard Stern or the H3 podcast so successful. The audience wants to feel like they are friends with the speakers, even though
Well, do you like it or nah?
Yeah, I liked it. Getting that scoop from behind the scenes on some of my favorite episode and wish them success. They are goofy gals palling around and that’s what makes for a good podcast. I hope they get better at the podcast but you could definitely sit there and listen it all the way through. I almost want to say it’s a tad cringe but the whole time I’m smiling because of how dorky they are.
Give it a try, you can find it on Spotify, which you need if you are under the age of 40 and like music. Also on Earwolf.com, where all the clean advertiser friendly celebs are starting their own podcast, if you’re into listening what celebrities have to say.
